Why Do Books Matter?

Books are personal, books are cultural. Books are inspirational, books are educational. Books tell truths, books tell stories. Books create and books give testimonies. Books improve thinking, reasoning and speaking. Books influence the mind even when sleeping. Books transform, books include. Books translate, books seclude. Books paint pictures, books sing songs. Books build bridges, books right wrongs.

Books discover and they reveal. Books are spiritual and help us heal. Books contain histories and things we should know; books provide entertainment and places to go. Books take us beyond, books are religions. Books are respected and help make decisions. Books contain love, books contain hate. Some people believe books tell you your fate.

Books understand us, books record us. Books are collective, books give perspective. Books are physical, though so much more. Books bring peace and sometimes war. Books are poetic, books are direct. Books uncover, books dissect. Books are science and books are art, books are playful and books are smart.

You find books in libraries, in shops and in cars; under the covers and behind bars. You can read them together, you can read them alone. You can use them at school as well as at home. You can study them in silence; you can shout them out loud. Books make you belong and they make you feel proud.

Books kindle excitement, passion and thrills. Books bring you success, intelligence and skills. Books help us mature and they help us to grow; books teach us lessons and let our thoughts flow. Books wake you up and they send you to sleep. Books make you dance and books make you weep.

Books contain secrets, hopes, fears and lies. Books are natural, essential and wise. Books are tough, books are strong. Some books are short, some are long. Books can be tokens, gifts and awards. Books are a challenge but they bring great rewards.

Books connect, books are freedom. Books are lives, books are people. Books tie bonds, books redeem. Books grant goals, ambitions and dreams. Books break barriers, borders and times. Books speak clearly with reason or rhyme. Books help us remember, books let us forget. Books provide an escape, a strong safety net. Books prove our existence, they’ve helped us survive. Books look to the future but keep the past live.

Books are our counsellors, books make good friends. Books offer maps of all the world’s ends.
